Jon Bernthal has opened up on his relationships with his own brothers as he reprises his role of Ben Affleck's on-screen sibling in The Accountant 2.
Bernthal is back as Christian Wolff's brother Braxton in The Accountant 2 nine years after the release of the first film.
While both Hollywood stars were in the first movie together, the pair had limited shared scenes and it wasn't actually until the end of The Accountant that their characters united.

This is far from the case in The Accountant 2 however as Affleck and Bernthal are in almost all of the film (which boasts an impressive 82 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes at the time of writing) with one another and become the on-screen sibling duo that you never knew you needed.

Ahead of the movie's release, UNILAD chatted to both Affleck and Bernthal about their relationships with their own brothers and how they influenced their characters of Christian and Braxton.
Affleck's younger brother, Casey Affleck, is best known for starring in the likes of Gone Baby Gone, Manchester by the Sea, and Interstellar, but Bernthal's brothers aren't in the spotlight.
The Punisher actor's brothers are Tom, a former business executive, and Nicholas, a surgeon — both of whom he described as his 'best friends'.

While Nicholas and Tom aren't in the industry, Nicholas has featured on some episodes of his brother's podcast, REAL ONES.
"You know, the first thing that pops into my mind for me, my brothers are my best friends," Bernthal told UNILAD of his siblings. "I remember a few years back, my little brother called me and I was in my truck, and he told me he was going through sort of a health scare."

The Emmy Award-winning actor continued: "He's fine now, but it was pretty serious, and I remember just punching my steering wheel when I got that news and I had to drive around with a steering wheel in my truck that was, you know, triangulated for that."

Bernthal didn't share further details on what his brother went through at the time.
"It just speaks to the fact that, near or far, you're so unbelievably connected with your brothers," The Bear favorite went on.
"For me, it's like they're talking to me all the time, and they're with me with every choice I make. I'm always going through the funnel of, 'What would they do? What would they say?'"
Bernthal then shared what what it was like working with Affleck more closely in The Accountant 2.

"Ben's presence is so strong with this character with who Ben is as a man, as a filmmaker, as a friend, as an artist, as an icon," Bernthal said.
"I really felt that with Ben throughout the making of this movie, and I'm really, really proud and grateful that I had this opportunity to sort of do this with him, and to build this with him."
Bernthal went on to say that his on-screen brotherly bond with Affleck's character stems from the first Accountant movie — in particular the flashbacks of Braxton and Christian as kids, which he described as 'perfectly done'.
For those of you who need a refresher, The Accountant is currently streaming on Prime Video. Meanwhile, The Accountant 2 hits theaters on Friday, April 25.
