Kim Kardashian made all the headlines at this year's Met Gala, mostly because of her outfit.
The 43-year-old stepped out on the Met Gala red carpet wearing a silver, John Galliano corset-style dress - a look which tied in with the Costume Institute’s 'Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion' exhibit.
The much-talked about outfit was a floor-length silver number with a shawl-like wrap covering a corseted strapless bodysuit, which went into an extremely cinched metallic waist section. The rest of the bodysuit was then covered by a floral, leafy, silver skirt and small train.

Kardashian was met with a lot of criticism online for just how cinched the waist area of her outfit was, with some calling it 'unhealthy'.
"Kim Kardashian at the Met Gala with a snatched waist. It looks painful though, she can barely move," one X user penned.
A second commented: "What is wrong with these celebrities?! Why!? Did she break her ribs?!"
While a third added: "She kind of looks like she's in pain."

While a fourth simply wrote: "Met Gala 2024: Kim Kardashian’s cinched waist causes confusion == doesn't look uncomfortable or battling to breath ?? so what the hell is the problem ? ? ? JEALOUSY ?? PROBABLY !"
A behind-the-scenes video for Vogue has revealed more about the controversial dress, including a few new interesting details we didn't see on the red carpet.
The video begins with the SKIMS founder breathing through her mouth while being sucked into the corset.

“It’s an art form, but I got it,” Kardashian says as the her team laces her up.
Despite the breathing difficulties, the reality star went on to admit that she loved the corset because it made her boobs and waist look 'so good'.
"I’ll feel so snatched, I won’t even be able to communicate to you how snatched I feel," she adds.
So can the outfit choice cause any harm?

Well, in an article about the consequences of corsetry, the Charleston Museum explains, while it's 'not usually deadly, wearing a tightly laced corset can be quite harmful to the wearer'.
It continues: "They can reduce lung capacity, cause shortness of breath and fainting, produce skin irritations, compress the ribs, weaken back and chest muscles and have even been known to cause organ deformity.
"Tight corsetry can also exacerbate lung conditions such as pneumonia, dangerously restrict digestion, cause constipation and can also worsen any existing issues within a woman’s reproductive system."
It's worth noting this is only in extreme cases of wearing the undergarment for pro-longed periods of time.
