Kim Kardashian has revealed why it was a tough job walking the red carpet at the 2024 Met Gala.
Not only did the Kardashian have to tackle an 'art form' version of breathing as a result of her 'unhealthy' dress, but the 43-year-old reality star turned businesswoman also had to battle a precarious walk at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on Sunday (6 May).
Kardashian took to the red carpet wearing a John Galliano corset-style dress paired with a 'raggedy' sweater for the Gala's 'Garden of Time' carpet theme and overall exhibit theme of 'Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion'.

Despite it being a fashion event, as a result of the Kardashian being looked up to by some as a figure of influence, she faced backlash online for her 'unhealthy' corset. Many social media users voiced concern over the item of clothing, some saying it looked 'painful' and like she could 'barely move' in it.
However, there was another reason the Kardashian may've looked like she was struggling to walk on the carpet.
In a behind-the-scenes video uploaded to YouTube by Vogue, Kardashian showed off the shoes she wore underneath her floor-length silver dress.

The shoe is a see-through platform, but there's one pretty important part of the item missing - the heel.
Kardashian explained: "This is my shoe. It's clever because if I had a shoe with a heel, the heel gets stuck in the metal skirt and so that was our issue of walking.
"So I'm going to have to put these on and to wear these you're on your tiptoes and you're balancing the whole time, flexing your calf muscles. So, that's what I'm going to have to do, is stand on my tippy toes, but I think ballerinas do it. They probably have a lot of practice - this is our only practice but we'll do it."
Standing at 5ft2, she added the team thought she 'really needed the height' from the heels too in order to pull of the outfit.

The video then shows Kardashian being helped into the shoes, the Skims founder quickly realising she 'can't lean back' and would be on her toes 'from here on out'.
Haters want to hate on Kardashian, but you can't not admire her for managing to walk on those shoes all the way along the Met's carpet. Although, should 'beauty' or fashion really equal pain?
