Lily Allen shocks fans after admitting she doesn't know how to do laundry

The British songstress revealed she has to rely on others to keep her clothes clean

Lily Allen might have a great voice on her, but she made it clear she isn't the woman to call if you ever need a hand with your household chores.

The singer-songwriter, 39, revealed that despite her taking a great interest in all things fashion, and the fact she has recently finessed her style, she has no idea how to clean all of her flashy clothes and designer garments.

She explained that it is a task which fills her with 'fear' as she has no idea how to operate a washing machine during a recent episode of her Miss Me? podcast, which she hosts alongside British TV star, Miquita Oliver.

The pair have both been friends with each other 'since birth', so you would think that they know each other inside out by now. However, it seems that the pals clearly don't discuss their laundry routines often.

Both of them grew up together in west London and their mom's have remained close friends since their pregnancies.

Allen offered to let Oliver in on her long-kept 'secret' during the latest episode of Miss Me?, which left fans of the UK singer stunned by her lack of laundry knowledge.

She said: "Do you want to know a secret? I don't know how to use a washing machine. I have this fear of shrinking and dyeing clothes so I just don't do it.

"David and the kids do the washing, I'll iron but I don't even like putting things in the drier. I'm scared."

Allen admitted that the responsibility of keeping clothes clean instead falls on her husband and actor, David Harbour, who has starred in the likes of Hellboy, Stranger Things, Suicide Squad and The Equalizer.

But if her spouse is otherwise occupied, it's down to her daughters Ethel, 12, and Marnie, 11, who she shares with ex-husband Sam Cooper, to wash everything in the laundry basket.

Allen continued: "The kids are really good at it. Ethel is particularly good at using the washing machine but I have a fear of it. I don't want to go near it."

On the plus side, at least she's found a way to never be blamed for shrunken clothes or putting something red in with a white wash.

Admit it, we have all been there.

Allen has never been shy about discussing what goes on behind closed doors at her home, having previously dished the dirt on her relationship dynamic with Harbour.

The 'Smile' singer rubbished rumours that their marriage had hit the rocks last year, before revealing that they are so open with one another that they each have 'control' over the other's phone.

Allen has also openly discussed her and Harbour's sex life, as well as how many dates they went on before sealing the deal.
