Lupita Nyong'o has ended her romance with Selema Masekela and thanked her fans for their support during the turbulent time.
The former flames met in 2016, but aren't thought to have started dating until last year.
But their relationship was short-lived because of TV host and sports commentator Masekela's alleged 'deception'.

In a lengthy statement shared on Instagram on Friday, October 20, the Black Panther actress said: "There are much more important things going on in the world right now, and my thoughts are with those who are deeply suffering.
"At this moment, it is necessary for me to share a personal truth and publicly dissociate myself from someone I can no longer trust…
"I find myself in a season of heartbreak because of a love suddenly and devastatingly extinguished by deception."

Nyong'o went on: "I am tempted to run into the shadows and hide, only to return to the light when I have regained my strength enough for me to say, 'Whatever, my life is better this way.'
"But I am reminded that the magnitude of the pain I am feeling is equal to the measure of my capacity for love. And so, I am choosing to face the pain, cultivating the courage to meet my life exactly as it is, and trusting that this too shall pass."
The 40-year-old opened up about her break-up in the hopes of it being 'useful to someone else out there experiencing the grip of heartbreak who is poised to try and escape from the pain and miss out on the wisdom that comes from it'.

Celebs such as Vanessa Hudgens, Natasha Bedingfield and Bring It On's Gabrielle Union all voiced their support to the actress in the comments section of her post.
But Nyong'o's fans have also been offering their support in private, and have been messaging the Academy Award winner and even sending her resources to help her through this difficult time.
In light of this, she thanked everyone for their support.
"Thank you for all the kindness I have received from sharing my heartbreak news," she penned to her Instagram Story.

"The words of encouragement mean more to me than I anticipated. They are a balm."
In follow-up Story, Nyong'o continued: "And it feels comforting to have a little corner online for the romantically heartbroken to gather.
"Some of you have shared resources that have helped you move through the pain. Songs, poems, books, quotes... Please continue to do so. I will be sure to share what is resonating for me."
