Mark Zuckerberg's incredibly 'awkward' appearance at the UFC has become a meme

If you've been on the hunt for a good new meme, Mark Zuckerberg has delivered.

20 years on from the creation of Facebook and Zuckerberg is still making an impact on social media, although this time it was much less intentional.

The Facebook founder was spotted at the MMA fight between Alex Volkanovski and Ilia Topuria in California last night (February 17), where he showed his support for Volkanovski by standing in his corner.

Zuckerberg made a few appearances on the camera during the fight, but rather than presenting himself as a particularly big fan of MMA, a tech mogul or even really a human, the founder has been jokingly accused of acting like a 'robot'.

In one clip, Zuckerberg could be seen bopping his head along to the music while stood with Volkanovski's crew.

As they handed out items, Zuckerberg attempted to lend a helping hand, only to apparently be ignored.

I'm sure it's no surprise to hear that internet users took the moment and ran with it.

Zuckerberg's uncomfortable stance and awkward little bop is now attached to all sorts of captions online, as his latest appearance sparked a flurry of memes.

There's one particularly delightful X thread which has collated some of the best ones together, and users can't get enough.

"When you promised to help your buddy move furniture but don’t want to throw out your back and are really just there to hang out, tell jokes and eat a couple slices of pizza he bought," one creative post reads.

Another person quipped: "When the teacher puts me with the smart kids for the group project…"

"Rumor has it Zuck is still looking for something to grab," a third joked, while another added: "This latest human update is glitching badly."

Though Zuckerberg wasn't up for a fight himself last night, he has previously trained in MMA and even found himself challenged by none other than Elon Musk.

The Facebook founder did indicate he wouldn't shy away from a fight with Musk, but he had to take a step back from fighting following an ACL injury late last year.

Maybe his appearance at the Volkanovski fight could be a sign of his foray back into the sport? We'll have to wait and see, but for now, his appearance has provided more than enough entertainment for fans.
