Ne-Yo says people should be allowed to marry multiple partners as he confirms polyamorous relationship

Actor and singer-songwriter Ne-Yo has spoken out about having more than one partner, saying he believes that people should be allowed to marry more than one person.

Ne-Yo was walking along the street holding hands with two partners when he was approached by a reporter from TMZ recently.

For those who don't know, this is where you have more than one partner at the same time.

It's distinct from having an open relationship as in that case, you have one long term partner but continue to date others.

With polyamory, you have more than one long term partner simultaneously.

While having more than one long term partner is all perfectly legal, it is not legal to get married to more than one person simultaneously, which is called bigamy.

Well, the TMZ reporter questioned Ne-Yo on his thoughts about being in a relationship with more than one person.

The singer replied that as long as no-one was being hurt, there was nothing wrong with it.

He said: "I feel like in the realm of love and romance you should let people do whatever the hell they wanna do, can't see how it's hurting anybody."

As for whether he thinks you should be able to marry more than one person, the musician replied that he was in favour of that, saying "Sure why not?"

But it seems that while he thinks it should be legal to marry more than one person, it's not something he'd be prepared to campaign for.

"To be honest I don't need the government to tell me what it is I can and can't do, coming into my personal life," he explained, adding: "I'm not going to let it ruin my day. The people I love know I love them."

Not only that, but Ne-Yo also said that he wouldn't recommend polyamory to other people.

But before you wonder why he's doing it if he won't recommend it, he explained it's because everyone is different.

He said: "I don't recommend anything to anybody. What works for me might not work for you."

Ne-Yo also explained that he hasn't been in this situation for long, and hinted that there may be some music around it coming soon.

He said: "The song's depending on the situation and the circumstance, it's the first time I've been in a relationship like this, so songs about about it will come to pass, they'll come.

"I don't force it when it comes to music, it happens naturally."
