Have you ever had an expectation about what someone sounds like, only to be proven wildly wrong?
Adele is just one example that springs to mind for me - I just never expect to hear that strong Cockney accent come after a rendition of 'Rolling in the Deep' or 'Set Fire to the Rain'.
As it turns out, famous chef Salt Bae, whose real name is Nusret Gökçe, is another example of someone with an unexpected voice - but not for the reason you might think.

Check it the video of him talking here:
Fans shared their shock at hearing Gökçe's voice after he shared a clip of himself wishing people a Happy New Year back in 2022.
"Hi, everyone!" he began. "I am so proud of myself because we did it. 2022: our best, best year. I hope again, more and more. 2023: our best year.

"I wish all the best. Happy New Year. I love you all. I am extremely happy because of you. Welcome 2023. We are ready, waiting for you."
In a caption alongside the clip, he added: "Thanks to you we are who we are!! Motivation organization operation 2023."
The video was obviously just meant to portray a nice message to fans, but instead viewers almost completely ignored what Salt Bae actually said and focused entirely on his voice.

While viewers are used to seeing Gökçe on their screens, he tends to focus more on showing off his culinary and knife skills, as well as the now-iconic method of sprinkling salt on food that made him go viral in the first place.
As a result, people were caught off guard when they finally heard his voice.
Unlike Adele, however, it wasn't Gökçe's accent or style of speaking that caught people by surprise - it was the fact he was speaking at all.

After coming across the video, one stunned social media user wrote: "Didn't know he could speak!"
"Holy s**t he can talk," a second joked, while a third added: "I thought that you can't speak."
"Bro, I'm obsessed with your voice," commented another.
It was back in 2017 that Gökçe first became a worldwide sensation, after he posted a video of himself wearing a tight white t-shirt and pulling his arm back like a cobra to sprinkle salt over a slab of steak.

The video was shared on Twitter with the caption: “So this is #saltbae," and the rest, as they say, is history.
