Taylor Swift's Eras Tour film has broken box office records on its opening weekend.
The film of the tour had a bumper opening weekend, despite taking an unusual route into theaters.
Rather than releasing the film with a major studio, Swift has done so by co-operating with AMC Theatres, the largest cinema chain in the world.

This meant that AMC was responsible for distributing the film, though it would not be exclusive to AMC theaters.
It sees Swift taking home around 57% of ticket sales and theaters keeping the rest - minus a distribution fee from AMC.
This will see it being played in 3,855 theaters in the US and Canada, and at 4,527 venues internationally.
The film has already become the highest-grossing concert film in box office history, beating the entire 2011 run Justin Bieber: Never Say Never on its opening weekend.

But how much did it make?
Well, in North America it took some $92.8 million, and then $30.7 million internationally. This meant that the total for the film was $123.5 million globally.
Not bad considering this isn't even the tour itself, just the film of the tour.

AMC Theatres’ chief content officer Elizabeth Frank thanked Taylor Swift for the film, saying: “With tremendous recommendations and fans buying tickets to see this concert film several times, we anticipate ‘Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour’ concert film playing to big audiences for weeks to come.”
The Eras Tour kicked off back in March, before going through its international leg and finishing in Toronto in Canada in November 2024.
As for the revenue, The Washington Post has reported that Swift could scoop as much as $4.1 billion from the tour.
This prediction - which is just a prediction - takes account of the millions she will be paid for performances along the way, as well as the enormous money spinner which is merchandise sales.

And yes, it also includes the revenue from the movie.
Exactly how much money Taylor Swift makes from The Eras Tour may never be fully understood, and could also depend on how you measure it.
This means that not only could the tour make her a much richer woman, but could increase her net worth many times over.

According to The Washington Post, the average ticket price for the tour is $456, and venues sell out thousands of tickets, making it easy to see how it adds up.
Taking BT Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh in the UK as an example, this has a capacity of 67,800.
A sold out gig for this medium-sized venue (at least on The Eras Tour) means a whopping $30.9 million from this alone.
Not bad for a night's work!
