A few infuriated members of the public have claimed Sandra Bullock should have the Oscar she won for her performance in The Blind Side revoked after the man who inspired the film filed a lawsuit against the family he went to live with.
If you're struggling to make a connection between these two events, it's because there really isn't one. But that hasn't stopped people trying to find it.
Bullock took on the role of Leigh Anne Tuohy for the 2009 movie The Blind Side, starring as the matriarch of the family who took in Michael Oher when he was experiencing homelessness as a teenager.

The film is said to be inspired by true events, and earned an Oscar nomination for Best Picture as well as allowing Bullock to secure the Oscar for Best Actress.
However, Oher, now 37, has now filed a lawsuit which accuses the couple who took him in of lying to him, with legal papers claiming that in February, Oher found out 'the conservatorship to which he consented on the basis that doing so would make him a member of the Tuohy family, in fact provided him no familial relationship'.
"At no point did the Tuohys inform Michael that they would have ultimate control of all his contracts, and as a result Michael did not understand that if the conservatorship was granted, he was signing away his right to contract for himself," the lawsuit claims.

The suit further claims the Tuohy family entered into a movie deal for the rights to Oher's story for $225,000 plus 2.5 percent of future proceeds, but that Oher 'at no time ever willingly or knowingly signed this document'.
Although Bullock portrayed Leigh Anne Tuohy in The Blind Side, there's no evidence to suggest she had any idea about what Oher or the family may or may not have signed when she made the movie.
As an actor, she arrived on set and performed in the role she was given - a performance that just so happened to be good enough to earn her an Oscar.
The lawsuit filing doesn't negate the performance Bullock gave in The Blind Side, but still some critics have expressed belief that she should have the award revoked in the wake of the allegations against the Tuohy family.

"So Sandra Bullock should have to give back her Oscar right, and man do we need to start checking these good feeling stories," one person wrote.
Another commented: "If the Michael Oher allegations are true then we have to go AND TAKE THE OSCAR back from Sandra Bullock and give it to Gabourey Sidibe for 'Precious'."
Thankfully, there are some people who are standing by Bullock following the emergence of the lawsuit.

One wrote: "Not y'all calling for Sandra Bullock's Oscar to be revoked. It ain't her fault the real life people were exploitative scammers and thieves."
In his suit, Oher is calling for the conservatorship agreement to be terminated, and to receive compensation based on the millions earned off his name and story.
