Could Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson be more than just friends?
The two Hollywood actors starred in TV series True Detective together, but their friendship long out-dated the 2014 show. In fact, the pair first became acquainted in 1997 when working on EDtv.
Now they're set to be reunited once more on their new Apple TV+ show, Brothers - a fitting name for a TV series for the duo to star in with their very unique situation in mind.

In recent years, it was revealed that there's a chance that the two actors could actually be brothers in real life.
As to how the idea came about, it all stems back to a conversation they had with McConaughey's mom, Mary.
"In Greece a few years ago, we’re sitting around talking about how close we are and our families," the Dallas Buyers Club star revealed in a 2023 episode of Kelly Ripa's Let’s Talk Off Camera podcast.

"And my mom is there, and she says, ‘Woody, I knew your dad’. Everyone was aware of the ellipses that my mom left after ‘knew’. It was a loaded K-N-E-W."
Adding fuel to the fire, both actors hail from Texas, were born in the 1960s, and appear to share some physical similarities to each other.

Following McConaughey's mom's remarks, he and Harrelson pieced together that there's a slim chance that convicted hitman Charles Harrelson may be his biological father.

Since then, many people have called for the pair to do a DNA test to see if they really are half-brothers or not; and now Harrelson has given an update on their plans.
At one stage, even veteran talk show host Maury Povich invited the two A-listers to do a DNA test.
During an appearance on British station Radio X, host Johnny Vaughan asked: "Woody, I know you're doing this thing Brothers with Matthew McConaughey. Did you investigate whether the two of you might actually be brothers or related?"
"Well, we haven't done the DNA test, but we're probably going to do that. I think there's a real possibility," The Hunger Games star replied.

Vaughan went on to quip that it all stems down to 'promiscuous parents'.
"Yeah, it sounds like something went on," Harrelson continued. "And the thing was Matthew's mom and dad divorced. They were married three times."
The actor didn't give any exact dates on when they might finally do the DNA test, though.
Listen to Radio X with Johnny Vaughan weekdays from 16:00 - 19:00 and on Saturday from 11:00 - 13:00 across the UK and on Global Player.
