Jeremy Renner has revealed the absolutely savage message he received from his Marvel co-star Paul Rudd after he was hit and crushed by a snowplow.

Renner suffered multiple broken bones and other horrific injuries after being run over by the Snow-Cat vehicle on New Year's Day, prompting fans and fellow celebrities to flood his feed with their hopes for a speedy recovery.

The 52-year-old has been sharing updates with fans in the weeks since the incident took place, and more recently has started conducting interviews to reveal more details about the horrific experience and everything he'd felt after being crushed.

And this week, Renner appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to open up about what happened, explaining how he'd received a lot of support from his friends while he was recovering.

It was visits from other people that made Renner realise how serious his injuries were, he explained, as he recalled speaking to both Chris Evans and Rudd while he was in hospital.

"Their reaction is what made me feel like, 'oh I really hurt myself'," he said, joking that they were 'terrible actors' for being unable to hide their horror at his condition.

Renner then went on to praise Rudd in particular for 'making [his] day', describing him as 'one of the funniest guys around' - evidently because Rudd is willing to toe the line when it comes to his comedy.

According to the Hawkeye star, Rudd sent a message to him in the wake of the accident, which was made to look like it had come from the app Cameo; a site which allows fans to purchase personalised messages from celebrities.

Renner explained: “He made a fake one like I paid him money for a Cameo."

He obviously had more important things to think about after being hit by a snowplow than getting a fan message from another Marvel star, but that didn't put Rudd off creating one.

Check it out below:

“Hey Jerry,” he said in the clip. “I hear you’re a little banged up. Got in a fight with a snowblower apparently? Anyway, I just wanted to send this video."

Rudd went on to claim the video was 'really from the heart', adding: "I hope you’re feeling better. Sounds like you are ― apparently you’re a pretty tough guy. Maybe I’ll get to meet you someday. Wouldn't that be something. In the meantime take care and take it easy for a while."

He then hit Renner with the most brutal line of all, saying: "Maybe next time just let the snow melt."

Though it was savage, Renner took the joke well and obviously remembers it fondly as one of the better moments from his time in recovery.
