Shakira didn't think she'd survive after finding out her ex Gerard Piqué 'betrayed her' while her dad was in the ICU.
The 46-year-old singer opened up about how she handled the breakup with former Spanish footballer Piqué, 36, who reportedly cheated on her.
The pair were together for 11 years and Piqué has since officially started a new relationship with 24-year-old Clara Chia Marti.

Now more than a year after their split, Shakira has reflected on the relationship breakdown and how she navigated an equally taxing family situation at the same time.
Speaking to People en Español, the star opened up about how she felt 'betrayed' by Piqué shortly after her father, William Mebarak Chadid, ended up in hospital after a nasty fall.
Shakira, who shares two sons Milan, 9, and Sasha, 7, with Piqué, said: "He went to Barcelona to console me after I was consumed with sadness because of my separation.

"While he was at Milan’s first communion, he was gravely injured in an accident. Everything happened at once."
The 'She Wolf' hit-maker continued: "My home was falling apart. I was finding out through the press that I had been betrayed while my dad was in the ICU."
Recalling the moment, Shakira revealed she thought she 'wasn't going to survive' the whole ordeal adding: "The man I have loved the most in my life, my father, was leaving me when I needed him the most.
"I couldn’t talk to him, or go to my best friend for the advice I needed so much."

Shakira added that her father's recovery has 'been very hard and slow'.
She praised Chadid as a 'wonderful man and an endearing character who surprises us all with his strength'.
"He has overcome COVID once, two accidents, one pneumonia and five surgeries - all of this at 91 years of age, in less than six months," she explained.

"My dad is the biggest example of resilience, and my mother has been by his side day and night. They have both been a reflection of that dream that didn't come true for me."
The singer went on to say she hoped the pair would be 'role models' for her children to take inspiration from their 'love, of patience in relationships, of absolute devotion and zest for life'.
Elsewhere in the interview, Shakira spoke about all the exciting things she's currently looking forward to.

She said she was 'very excited' to release new music centered around the 'narrative that has developed along with events in my life'.
The 'Hips Don't Lie' singer also revealed the new music will discuss 'the different stages I have gone through spiritually, mentally and even physically'.
Shakira added: "I have gone through denial, rage, pain, acceptance, grief, hope, deception, hope again, excitement.
"So many emotions and feelings that at times seem mixed, that didn’t seem to be able to coexist inside of me, that I have been able to untangle only through my songs, to understand myself better.
"Not to explain or justify myself, only to understand myself and tolerate myself."
