Audience members watching The View were not impressed when host Sunny Hostin attempted to compare Kim Kardashian to Raquel Welch following the actor's death.
Whoopi Goldberg, another of the show's hosts, paid tribute to Welch at the start of the Hot Topics segment on Thursday (16 February), after Welch was confirmed to have passed away on Wednesday at the age of 82.
The tribute led the presenters to discuss Welch's life and position as a sex symbol, but viewers started booing when Hostin shared her thoughts on the matter:
The segment started off well, with a heartfelt comment from Goldberg who spoke on behalf of the show's members as she said: “We were so heartbroken to hear of the passing of one of the world’s most enduring sex symbols — the fabulous Raquel Welch."

Welch became known as an international sex symbol in the 1960s, with one particularly memorable performance being her role as a bikini-clad cavewoman in the 1966 movie One Million Years B.C.
The actor has also been credited for roles in Seinfeld, Legally Blond and CSI: Miami, and won a Golden Globe for her role in the 1974 film The Three Musketeers.
"Sail on, Raquel. Sail on," Goldberg said in her tribute, before Joy Behar commented: “They don’t make any sex symbols like that [anymore].”

Behar seemed to be about to say that she didn't know any 'present' examples of such a sex symbol, to which Hostin responded: "Well, Kim Kardashian is —."
As you'll know from the video, this didn't go down well.
The crowd quickly butted in with continuous boos and yells of 'no!', while Behar dismissed the idea completely, saying: "Kardashian... no."
She joked the audience were 'turning' while Hostin looked on in shock, but Goldberg quickly attempted to dispel the tension by moving things along.

"That’s not even — you can’t even put them in the same — I’m not even — look, I’m moving on," Goldberg said.
Though the hosts swiftly changed the subject, the conversation about Hostin's comments continued online, where one person made clear they were on the side of the audience as they commented: "Thanks Whoopi for swiftly shooting Sunny’s comparison down.
"What on earth was she thinking."

Some viewers stuck up for Kardashian though, with one arguing she 'seems so sweet', even if she and Welch 'may not be able to be compared'.
Welch passed away on Wednesday morning after a brief illness, according to her manager.
