Mötley Crue’s Tommy Lee has explained why he posted a full-frontal photo on Instagram earlier this month.
The 59-year-old drummer shocked many when he posted the explicit selfie on 11 August, which showed him in what looked like a bathtub, and his manhood out on display for all the world to see, and captioned it: "Ooooopppsss."
Hours after positing it, the nude selfie disappeared from Lee’s Instagram, although it remains on his Twitter account.

Now addressing his d**k pic, the rocker told concert goers in San Antonio, Texas, over the weekend that he shared the photo after going on a ‘bender’.
"A couple of weeks ago, we had like a two-week break off the tour, and I went on a motherf***ing bender, bro,” Lee announced.
"I got f***ing sideways as f*** and got naked and posted pictures of my d**k."

The musician then went on to encourage concert goers to expose their 'd**ks', as per a video from the concert.
"And usually, I mean I'm a titty man, so I like to see titties, but tonight is equal-opportunity night. Tonight I wanna see everyone's d**k. C'mon boys, pull your s**t out. Pull your f**ing junk out. Let's go," he declared.
His comments come after it was reported that Lee gained 100,000 new followers after posting his NSFW pic, according to Social Blade.
The photo clearly contravened Instagram's community guidelines, which prohibit nudity, but the post was not taken down for hours.

People were shocked that it took so long to remove, with some accusing the platform of double standards with regards to its treatment of nudity when it comes to men and women.
On Twitter, one person wrote: "Women's accounts get banned on #Instagram for just showing nipples and yet #TommyLee can post a full frontal d**k pic and not get into trouble. The double standards."
Another said: "So Tommy Lee can post a picture of his penis on @instagram that's still up three hours later but a picture of my curvy booty in a thong bikini gets taken down? Cool, cool."
A third added: "2022 and we have to witness Tommy Lee being praised for posting a frontal nude while Britney Spears is constantly momshamed for posting sexy pics."

Lee has subsequently posted a less graphic illustration of the infamous d**k pic on Instagram, which remains up.
Instagram's community guidelines state that nudity is prohibited, but is acceptable in paintings and sculptures.
The guidelines read: "We know that there are times when people might want to share nude images that are artistic or creative in nature, but for a variety of reasons, we don’t allow nudity on Instagram.
"This includes photos, videos, and some digitally-created content that show sexual intercourse, genitals, and close-ups of fully-nude buttocks.
"It also includes some photos of female nipples, but photos in the context of breastfeeding, birth giving and after-birth moments, health-related situations (for example, post-mastectomy, breast cancer awareness or gender confirmation surgery) or an act of protest are allowed. Nudity in photos of paintings and sculptures is OK too."

With regard to Lee's d**k pic, which he also shared on Facebook, a spokesperson for Meta - which owns both social media platforms - told NPR that it was removed 'within hours'.
