A resurfaced clip of Whoopi Goldberg has left millennials up in arms as she suggests their inability to buy a home is simply down to laziness.
In a clip from the show, which aired in November of last year, the 68-year-old suggested that the generation didn’t want to work and if they did, they would for as little as four hours.
She went on to add that this was the reason many millennials can’t afford to buy a home... well, just about anywhere.

Goldberg also insisted that moving out and buying a property has always been hard and young people simply needed to 'get it done' like their parents, grandparents and great grandparents.
This stance is not new to most young people and the clip of Goldberg has recently resurfaced, sparking a new wave of criticism against the actor.
TikTok user @fmsmith319 shared a video dissecting Goldberg's comments and it has gone viral, receiving over 14 million views.
“Whoopi, here is the problem millennials are facing today,” the TikToker said.

“If you look from 1980 all the way to 2019, the average home prices - this column is what is important,” he said while pointing on a graphic, referring to the income needed to qualify for the average home every year.
“The median household income was more than what you needed to qualify until 2023,” Smith added as he highlighted a troubling trend of income not matching housing costs.

Smith went on to state that the percentage at which individuals pay rent - since they are unable to buy homes - has also increased massively over the last few decades.
He concluded that this crisis is not solely due to inflation but a failure to address the continuous concerns regarding housing supply and demand issues.
Social media users were very much on Smith’s side and accused Goldberg of being ‘woefully out of touch’.
“I should have just bought a house in the 80s instead of learning how to walk... Damn, how silly of me!,” one person wrote.

“Nothing like boomers who won the economic lottery telling us they have houses because they worked hard,” another added.
“Every millennial I know works a LOT harder than any boomer I've ever known,” another wrote.
“Uhm I work 9-10 hours minimum with 20$ an hour and still can’t afford a place alone lmao like what ???” a fourth commented.
