Will Smith has a 'forgotten' son in addition to Jaden and Willow

If someone asked you to name Will Smith's kids you'd probably say the names 'Jaden' and 'Willow' with some confidence.

While two out of three ain't bad you'd be missing out on his eldest child Willard Carroll Smith III, better known as 'Trey'.

By the way, Will Smith's real name is Willard Carroll Smith II and his father was Willard Carroll Smith so that's three generations of Willard Carroll Smiths, which might explain why 'Trey' got his name since it sounds like the number three in French.

Anyhow, Trey is Smith's eldest child and the only one he had from his marriage to Sheree Zampino, with their son being born on 11 November 1992.

Trey has shown up in some of his father's work such as the music video for his dad's rendition of 'Just The Two Of Us', while he's also acted in a couple of episodes of the sitcom All Of Us.

Smith and Zampino divorced in 1995, and a couple of years later he married current wife Jada, a year after that Jaden was born and a couple of years on from that Willow joined the family.

While Jaden performed alongside his dad in a few movies like The Pursuit of Happyness and After Earth, and Willow appeared alongside Will in I Am Legend, Trey has instead pursued a career in music, working as a DJ.

Smith's relationship with his eldest son is strong now, but it had some rocky patches in the past, with the actor focusing on his family with Jada until she told him to build bridges with Trey.

The actor has previously opened up on Instagram about restoring his relationship with his eldest son.

He wrote: "It has not always been like this between Trey & I. We STRUGGLED FOR YEARS after my Divorce from his Mother.

"He felt betrayed & abandoned. It is a Wild Blessing to recover & restore a Loving Relationship with My Beautiful Son!"

He also added a video where he described taking Trey to watch some Formula 1 racing and his son told him 'you're not just my dad, I'm pretty sure you're my best friend'.

The actor was recently spotted cheering on his kids Jaden and Willow at Coachella as they performed together in the Mojave tent.

Smith posted a video of his kids on stage together captioned 'WILLOWCHELLA!!!' while Jaden got onto the stage wearing a t-shirt that said 'Willow's Brother' on it.
