Woman stunned to receive message from Dwayne Johnson asking her to present him with painting

Woman stunned to receive message from Dwayne Johnson asking her to present him with painting

The Black Adam star wanted a piece of artwork to commemorate the film

Most people wake up to emails from Deliveroo and notifications saying it's some long-lost friend's birthday, so it's no surprise Danielle Weber was shocked to check her phone one morning and find a message from Dwayne Johnson himself.

The star reached out to the Melbourne artist with what he described as a 'big idea', which involved the two of them, one of Weber's paintings, and the world premiere for Black Adam.

It all began in 2015, when Weber painted a picture of Johnson and his mother and had the opportunity to hand deliver it to him.

Now, celebrities meet members of the general public all the time without forming long-lasting relationships, but that's not what happened with Johnson and Weber.

The pair stayed in touch, and in January they had a conversation about Weber creating a painting of Johnson in honour of his new film, Black Adam.

Speaking to news.com.au, the artist explained: "At that point, the movie was coming out in July, but then he hit me up again and said the movie has been pushed back and that we have time."

Weber created the piece over six days.

Both Johnson and Weber left it to the last minute to actually get the ball rolling, and Weber was under the impression that she was going to deliver the painting to Johnson ahead of the movie premiere.

However, that all changed when she woke up to her early-morning text from Johnson.

"I have a big idea," it began. "I’m thinking you present this to me on the black carpet at our world premiere in New York … It’s a massive moment we can create together. What do you think …"

Naturally, Weber wasn't going to turn down the opportunity, but she pointed out that at this point she didn't have a 'painting, flights booked or a dress'.

Thankfully, however, she works 'best under pressure', and so got cracking.

After running through some designs with Johnson, the artist got to work and created his Black Adam painting in 100 hours over the course of six days.

She was still painting the night before her 7am flight, but thankfully made it to the premiere in time to present Johnson with the completed artwork, which showed the actor in character as Black Adam.

In a video shared on Weber's social media, Johnson can be heard introducing Weber as he said: "I asked Danielle if she would be so gracious as to honour us with a special piece. I wanted her to present it to me and our Black Adam team."

After the picture was unveiled, Johnson described it as 'amazing' and thanked Weber for her hard work. The artist has credited Johnson with 'kickstarting' her career after Johnson shared her work, and she now hopes to 'inspire other artists' and make them believe 'anything is possible'.
