Many of us are happily leaving 2023 behind after another rough year.
And while it might not up there with the cataclysmic events of previous years (let’s not delve into 2020), it’s still been a rollercoaster that has a lot of us looking forward to the fresh unknown of 2024.
Unfortunately, it looks like next year is going to be as equally as grim, judging by the predictions made for us by renowned astrologer Nostradamus.
Even half a millennium after his death, the bleak predictions he wrote in his 1555 book, Les Propheties, make people nervous as it's believed he was right about the outcome of tragedies such as the 11 September attacks, Hitler’s rise to power and even the cost of living crisis.

So, if going off his ominous scribblings is anything to go by, which are known as quatrains, what should we brace ourselves for in 2024?...
Conflict with China
It seems there’s a prediction of a confrontation happening at sea which involves China, with his quatrain reading, ‘Red adversary will become pale with fear / Putting the great Ocean in dread.'
Given that China is backed by the largest Navy in world and has 350 ships and submarines and their disposal, the fall out of a confrontation could be disastrous.

Some believe that the ‘red adversary’ is a nod to communist China and the ‘great ocean’ is where the ‘fear’ he describes will take place.
The fall of the Pope
Another prediction involves the Catholic Church, as Nostradamus seems to believe we’ll be crowning a new Pope in the coming year.

Pope Francis who’s now 86 years of age, has fought through severe bronchitis recently, which was so detrimental to his health he was unable to travel, and earlier in June spent over a week in hospital recovering from abdominal surgery. With his litany of concerns, many astrology enthusiasts believe that the writings of Through the death of the very old Pontiff / A Roman of good age will be elected,’ suggest the Holy Land may be looking for a new leader.
Turmoil for the Royal Family
He further predicted further turmoil for the Royal Family, with one of his quatrains saying, ‘King of the Isles’, who has had a controversial divorce and who is ‘driven out by force’. What’s more, he is replaced by ‘one who will have no mark of a king’.

Which have many believing this is in reference to King Charles being forced to abdicate due to ‘constant attacks on himself and his wife’, then Harry taking the crown as opposed to William as he has ‘no mark of a king.’
Even with the looming thoughts above, we hope you’re 2024 brings you everything you hope for. I guess we’re in a better mood than Nostradamus.
