A dentist was left shocked after a man revealed what had happened to his teeth after going '20 years' without brushing them.
I have to admit, there are a few moments in life where brushing your teeth can be a bit of a hinderance.
Maybe you're running late and really could do without another two minutes over the sink, or you've just spit out that minty foam and suddenly realize you've got a glass of fresh orange juice waiting for you in the kitchen.
These are mild frustrations at best, and at the end of the day, I'd say it's always better to brush your teeth than to head out with bad breath or yesterday's dinner stuck between your molars.

Apparently not everyone would agree with me though, as proven by one man who appeared on the British TV show Embarrassing Bodies.
The show does what it says on the tin, and welcomes guests with 'embarrassing' body issues to be met by trained medics.
On one particular episode which aired in 2017, a 21-year-old man, named Jay, appeared on the show and revealed that he hadn't brushed his teeth in '20 years'.

Jay claimed that he had suffered from teeth problems since he was a young boy because he hadn't been encouraged to brush his teeth.
He also admitted that he hadn't helped himself keep his teeth healthy, as he said: "Over the years, I've eaten the wrong food, I've drank lots of fizzy drinks and I haven't really taken care of them."
"I haven't really brushed them or flossed or anything like that," Jay added.
Jay went on to open wide for dentist Dr James Russell, whose response indicated he was taken aback by just exactly what was going on in Jay's mouth.

When Jay revealed his teeth, the dentist was met with clear signs of poor health, with some of Jay's teeth seemingly having rotted away almost entirely.
Russell commented: "There's a lot going on, isn't there? It's not that you're suffering from gum disease as such... it's just decay."
The examination showed just how much damage the plaque build-up had caused over the years, but after heading to the show for help Jay was relieved to hear that there was a way to save his smile.

The dentist advised a full set of veneers for Jay, who was also strictly advised to change his lifestyle to maintain them.
Along with a new trim and a clean shaven face, Jay looked like a different guy all together after appearing on the show.
