A well-placed optical illusion left a driver puzzled and in fear he was going to drive himself into a pit.
The worst place to spot an optical illusion is probably while you are driving.
It just adds an unnecessary complexity to a task or route you have done thousands of times.

Well, one unsuspecting driver in the US shared his bizarre interaction with a tunnel that genuinely did look like a glitch in the fabrication of reality... that or terrible city planning.
The Reddit user, StormShadow250 shared his video on the website a few years ago but the video has reemerged on X and has been blowing minds.
Hitting the brakes in front of the mind-bending optical illusion, the driver can be heard saying: “F**k bro. There’s no signs blocking it off, and I thought I was just f*****g high.”

And in the driver’s defense, at the angle he is recording, it does feel like a looney tunes skit featuring Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner.
The driver continued: “That’s just a pit. What the f**k. They don’t have this s**t blocked off or something?”
Another car then approaches and slows down as it nears the hole. At this point, the driver ponders: “Is he gonna f*****g go?”
As the vehicle slowly passes the hole, the person filming the clip realises it’s actually a puddle of water, not a gateway to hell.

“Holy s**t. Oh, it’s water!” he shouts, adding: “I am high.” The driver then clarifies: “I’m not actually high, but holy f**k bro. It looks like a pit doesn’t it? I thought they just carved out a hole. I’m tripping.”
Social media users on X were equally perplexed by the illusion.
“Ol’ scary a**,”one user simply joked. While another concluded it was simply a ‘glitch in the matrix’

“That’s called the falseness of the retinal, it’s actually cool to see things from afar that way but are not true,” added another.
Other users were less forgiving and explained the illusion away simply.
“Water reflects light… more the street is lighten in the night and more it will reflect as a mirror,” one user wrote.

“Lmao I love this one. When he realizes that it’s water,” commented another.
“It's just a puddle of water in which the ceiling is reflected,” a third wrote.
Well, glad that is all cleared up but I don’t blame the guy for taking a minute to watch what other cars do before he potentially drives into a ditch.
