It's never nice finding something unexpected in your home is it? Whether that is a spider or some other creepy crawly, it can scare the s**t out of a lot of us.
But when you find something that you have literally zero clue as to what it is, then worries can certainly be heightened.
That was exactly the case for one 'freaked out' renter after she found a bizarre-looking, orange object growing in her home.

The woman, from Australia, posted a few snaps of the object in question to Facebook after it sprouted to life on her window sill.
The idea of the post was to sought reasons for what on earth the object could possibly be, though a mixed-bag of responses did not necessarily get her closer to an answer.
Of course, this is Facebook after all, so there were certainly a lot of jokey comments that headed the woman's way too.

"It's The Upside Down," one Facebook user penned, referring to the the hellish alternate dimension that features in the Netflix series Stranger Things.
As per Yahoo, the woman replied to this comment saying: "It's what I thought too when I first saw it... but please not in my house.
"I was going around cleaning all windows and window sills and came across this. I've never seen this before."
Many Facebook users were understandably creeped out by the object living on the window sill, and said as much in the comments.

But for the renter, of course, that does not provide many answers, instead probably making her more concerned than she was before.
Luckily, one Facebook user was there to save the day, as they offered some more practical experience based on their own personal challenges.
"I had this recently, it means water has got in and the wood is rotting basically," they wrote.
"My whole window frame had to get replaced — glass was nearly falling out when the builder checked it, because you could push your finger right through the wood. It was that bad."

Thankfully, the renter also has an expert on hand to provide some answers, with Karl Coppen, special projects operational manager for MouldMe, saying the object was likely due to a fungal species.
This could have been sat in the timber since construction, but access to moisture would allow it to grow the size we see on the Facebook post.
Speaking to Yahoo News Australia, Coppen said: "When we see these kinds of growths, it's generally when there is a good chance of moisture.

"The higher the moisture, the quicker something can spore like this."
The expert went on to advise renters and homeowners to keep their homes free of of moisture, while ensuring there is plenty of sunlight and good ventilation in their digs.
