TikTok users are praising a woman for completely changing their lives after she shared her discovery of a feature hidden inside her dishwasher.

Technology can be confusing at the best of times. There's always going to be some button that remains a mystery, or some setting that we'll never even think about approaching.

Usually these are features of more complicated devices, and we think we've mastered tech like the fridge and the washing machine.

As it turns out, though, even these kitchen staples have their secrets.

This revelation has been brought to light on TikTok by a user who revealed that the top shelf of their dishwasher could be lowered.

This might not sound like the most exciting revelation at first, but when you start to think about all those moments you spent trying to precariously balance a wine glass among your other fragile items - you start to understand why it could be life changing.

In the viral video, the user showed social media users how to lower the top shelf of your dishwasher so you can fit longer items such as wine glasses inside.

On this particular device, the user simply had to click the railing on the top shelf and it dropped down a couple of inches to make it more wine glass-friendly.

Yep. Your life could have been that much easier, and you could have broken far fewer glasses.

The revelation left people stunned, with TikToker @hotdogsilly among those who gave the hack a go after coming across the video.

Now her video is helping educate others, and people couldn't be more grateful.

"28 years old and I learnt this from your TikTok. Thank you," someone penned on the clip.

"Need to try this ASAP," wrote another, as a third added: "OK so this one vid proves that the ~1000 hours I have so far spent here was actually all worth it."

Another person hailed the hack as a 'life-changer'.

"Literally lived in my flat for 9 months and you’ve just changed me life!!!," another comment read.

But before you sprint to the dishwasher to try it for yourself, it's worth pointing out that unfortunately not every dishwasher features the nifty hack.

Some TikTokers were left disappointed by this revelation, with one joking: "My dishwasher doesn't have this so I've ordered a new kitchen."

According to one social media user, the clever hack is usually available on Bosch, Neff and Siemans-made dishwashers.
