Raise your hand if you've broken several wine glasses trying to fit them into your dishwasher...
If I had more than two hands, I'd be raising as many as possible.
For me, my glass breaking antics got so bad that I had to start buying stemless ones so I could fit them in the dishwasher without destroying them.

But it turns out it didn't have to do this as there's actually a way to fit glasses into the dishwasher that could have saved me a lot of cash (and glass cuts).
In a viral video shared to TikTok, one clever individual showed social media users that there's a secret way to lower the top shelf of your dishwasher so you can fit longer items (such as wine glasses) in.
For this person's dishwasher, they simply had to click the railing on the top shelf and it dropped down a couple of inches to make it more wine glass-friendly.

I mean, who knew?!
And I'm not alone in being surprised by the revelation as TikToker @hotdogsilly stitched the video and successfully tried it for herself.
Now her video is helping educate others.

"28 years old and I learnt this from your TikTok. Thank you," someone penned on her clip.
"Need to try this ASAP," wrote another, as a third added: "OK so this one vid proves that the ~1000 hours I have so far spent here was actually all worth it."
Another person hailed the hack as a 'life-changer'.
Echoing similar sentiments, another person went on: "Literally lived in my flat for 9 months and you’ve just changed me life!!!"

But while it works for some, I'm afraid it seems that it's not a nifty option that's available with all dishwashers.
According to one social media user, the clever hack is usually available on Bosch, Neff and Siemans-made dishwashers.
In light of the brilliant idea that is an adjustable shelf, people took to the comments section to share their disappointment that their washers didn't have the option.

"My dishwasher doesn't have this so I've ordered a new kitchen," someone wrote.
Another person laughed: "Running to dishwasher and finding out yours doesn’t."
If you're lucky enough to have this handy feature, it'll definitely help you check off one of your post-Thanksgiving chores after enjoying a few drinks with your family and friends yesterday.
I mean, who has time to wash everything after a festive feast anyway?
