The opening auditions of America's Got Talent are always among the best bits of the show.
Yes, later in the show the truly special acts get their chance to shine. However, there's no denying that a huge part of the show's appeal comes from the initial stages where people think they have what it takes, but really don't.
However, one contestant was determined not to let one bad audition get in the way of moving through to the next round. Or two for that matter.

Josh Alfred, 32, took to the stage in the AGT auditions, getting a warm response when he shared how happy he was to be on the show.
Josh appeared confident of moving through to the next stage of the competition, and revealed that he would have an act which was like nothing they had seen before.
It all sounds very impressive.

The 32-year-old from Nigeria then revealed that he would show off his 'speed reading' skill, to everyone's confusion. He said: “In the twinkle of an eye, I can read so many pages."
He then took out three books and proceeded to turn the pages very quickly while mumbling incoherently.
He then asked the unimpressed judges to quiz him on the book's contents. Simon Cowell called the act 'pointless'.
Howie Mandel asked him what happens at the end of Romeo and Juliet, to which he quipped: “I guess they died or something.”

Needless to say, he did not get through to the next round. But it seems that he wasn't quite finished yet.
After other acts came on, he returned to the stage brilliantly disguised in a wig. He introduced himself as J-OSH, 'the fastest rapper in the world.'
When the judges said that they were unable to understand his fast rapping, he explained that he believed people who like fast rap can 'slow it down in their minds'.

Once again, J-OSH was sent away with four no votes from the judges.
But even then it wasn't the last of the persistent performer.
He returned once again, this time wearing a comically false beard that convinced nobody, and calling himself the magician 'Terrifying J', letting playing cards fall from his hat as he entered.
He then said he would draw a card equal to Mandel's birthday month, November. Of course, standard playing cards only go up to ten, which is ultimately what 'Terrifying J' drew.

After he 'mind controlled' host Terry Crews, it became clear that there was more to Josh that initially met the eye.
In fact, he is neither speed reader, speed rapper, nor magician, but a comedian who goes by the name Josh2Funny, and is very popular.
Finally, the judges admitted that they did find the act very funny, though not enough to send him onto the next round.
However, he did get one seal of approval from Simon Cowell himself. Cowell said: "Seriously, I’ve now got it. I think you are hilarious. I really, really like you. You’re really funny.”
