This isn't a bit: DJ Khaled is at the Oscars, and people have been left confused by his first appearance on-stage.
This year's Oscars won't be like last year's ceremony, which was an awkward mix of in-person awards and Zoom acceptance speeches as a result of the pandemic.
We've got plenty of presenters tonight, including DJ Khaled.
Past ceremonies ditched the whole notion of having hosts, instead bring in actors and filmmakers speak throughout the evening. Tonight, we have Wanda Sykes, Amy Schumer and Regina Hall.

As they took to the stage for their opening speech, DJ Khaled immediately took to the stage. He didn't say anything of note, really, but it's not clear right now whether he'll be periodically interrupting moments during the show.
It's not been met with a positive reaction so far, with one Twitter user wrote: "Oh good DJ Khaled had to come out and take the spotlight when the three female hosts are being introduced."
Another tweeted: "Is this the #Oscars or the BET Awards?! We asked for more representation as in acknowledgment of AA bodies of work not DJ Khaled."
A third wrote: "I'm going to have to listen. Already turned off by the DJ Khaled stunt and Amy Schumer in general."

A fourth tweeted: "I know they're trying to pander so much to younger viewers, but man, that DJ Khaled opening was... Jesus Christ."
A fifth wrote: "Oscars build a tiny bit of goodwill with Beyoncé only to ruin it immediately with DJ Khaled lol."
Others have been more supporting of his presence, with one writing: "Fell off of my sofa laughing with the DJ Khaled appearance. they gave him his own needle drop. the funniest thing the Oscars have done in years."
Another wrote: "DJ Khaled and Amy Schumer making a joke about calling the cops on her co-hosts within like two minutes, tremendous stuff so far."
