The internet has gone wild over Ryan Gosling's supposed reaction to Will Smith smacking Chris Rock after he made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith, but not all is as it seems.
In what has become one of the most talked about moments of the Oscars, Smith took to the stage to defend his wife after Rock made a 'G.I. Jane 2' joke about Pinkett Smith.
However, according to Twitter users, Gosling has stolen the show, with many taking to the platform to compare a photo of him sporting a rather schoolboy reaction to other celebs shocked and concerned faces.
In a collage of close-ups of celebrities, the likes of Gosling's La La Land co-star Emma Stone can be seen mouth open in shock, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson's brows furrowed in confusion and Meryl Streep looking as horrified as she did in Devil Wears Prada when Anne Hathaway's Andy Sachs came into the office wearing anything but designer.

In 14 out of 15 pictures, all celebs wear a fitting expression of shock, confusion, dismay and panic, but who should appear in the final shot but Gosling.
The Place Beyond The Pines actor looks like he's an 11-year-old sat in the back of the classroom who has been told to stop giggling by the teacher, hand across his mouth trying to contain his laughter.
Smith lost his temper with Rock for referring to Pinkett Smith's shaved head - a result of her alopecia.

The Men in Black star took to the stage in what everyone presumed was a skit, hitting Rock right in the face, before striding briskly back off.
However, when he continued his attack on Rock by shouting, 'keep my wife's name out of your f***ing mouth,' it became clear that the altercation hadn't been planned.
While Smith took home Best Actor at last night's Academy Awards for his performance in King Richard, he also caused a social media storm.
Although Smith was seemingly overshadowed by Gosling's apparent reaction to the hit.

While it has been widespread on social media, and indeed epitomises how most Twitter users would have reacted had they made it to the Oscars 2022 themselves, the photo of Gosling is not from last night but 2017.
The photo dates back to the 2017 Oscars announcement for Best Picture Award which saw La La Land and Moonlight mixed up.

In a moment that awkward, confused as to whether or not Smith's whack was a skit, Gosling's face is what most viewers at home would have looked like, but it was ultimately not the face of Gosling himself last night.
