Henry Cavill looks to have already landed a new role after the announcement that he'd be hanging up his Superman cape seemingly for good was made.
With the DC cinematic universe going through a reboot helmed by James Gunn and Peter Safran, there's plenty of change in the air for the series of superhero movies, and sadly for Cavill it looks like he's on his way out.
The actor announced on Instagram that he would 'not be returning as Superman' after a meeting with Gunn and Safran, as their attempts to reboot the stumbling DC universe mean they're going to do something different with the character.
Gunn later confirmed that DC would be making a new movie 'focusing on an earlier part of Superman's life', meaning they'd be looking for someone else to take on the role.

The director has shot down rumours that he doesn't personally like Cavill, so at the moment it looks like the actor is an unfortunate victim of DC's attempts to finally get their cinematic universe right.
That news coupled with his departure from Netflix's The Witcher show means that Henry Cavill has in recent weeks left two major roles he's been a personal fan of.
However, the Hollywood Reporter says the actor is set to land a major role in yet another franchise he's a huge fan of with a part in an upcoming Warhammer 40,000 series.

They report that Cavill is set to star in and executive produce the show along with Amazon Prime, though there are no writers or showrunners currently attached to the project as Amazon are still 'in final talks for the rights'.
Cavill himself is a huge Warhammer fan, having got into painting an Adeptus Custodes army during the pandemic, and fans of the setting have long since hoped he'd have a major role in any related movie or series.
The only problem would be if he takes one role in the setting it'd likely mean he locks himself out of being cast as anyone else in future projects.
For those not familiar with the Warhammer 40,000 setting, often referred to as 40k among fans, it's set 40,000 years into our future where humanity has conquered most of the galaxy.

However, things have gone horribly wrong as humanity is fighting wars on every conceivable front against a myriad of alien races (some based off classic sci-fi tropes, others off English football hooligans) and religious fanatics.
To really explain this further would take all day, but suffice to say it's a tabletop wargame occasionally known as 'plastic crack' because it's a very expensive yet rewarding hobby.
You buy, build and paint miniatures of the various armies which do battle in the setting, and can then play games with them while complaining that your guys haven't had a good rules update in years.

The incredibly popular sci-fi setting has long been a candidate for adapting into a movie or TV series and there's been a few attempts, but an Amazon Prime series would be the big-budget adaptation many have been waiting for.
