Creator of Scrubs says that reboot is ‘definitely going to happen’ and it’s just a matter of time

Good news, Scrubs fans: more is potentially on the way, according to creator Bill Lawrence

The creator of Scrubs has said that a reboot is likely on the horizon.

Scrubs was one of the biggest of the 2000s and went on for a full nine seasons before Sacred Heart Hospital closed its doors in 2010.

Whilst the ninth season of the show was critically panned, the first eight are beloved by fans.

Scrubs has an average rating of 8.4 on IMDb, with series three having a perfect 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

Bill Lawrence, the man behind the show, spoke exclusively to UNILAD as part of the press tour for Bad Monkey, his newest show on Apple TV+.

Whilst discussing the show, which also includes a cameo from Scrubs star Zach Braff, we asked about the possibility of a reunion to the popular medical show.

Lawrence said: “Yeah, you know, I'm really candid about it. We're definitely going to do it, just because we've all been enjoying hanging out.”

“Look, there's no huge drive because everybody's successful, and I think the show was on for like, 72 years, but the on the other hand, medical people over here right now are very heroic to me.

“It's been a tough road, and no one's becoming a doctor right now to get rich here in America, and we've all been hanging out and talking.”

Lawrence went on to add: “So I'm open to it. I'm open to it, and I don't want to do it as a movie, but I'm definitely open to doing a couple more years of that show.

“It would not only be fun to see where the characters I used to love are now, but also to see what a young doctor nowadays looks like, as far as the kids coming in behind them, you know.

“So we've been talking a lot about it, and I think we'll figure it out in the next six months or so what we want to do. I'm just busy too, man, in a great way.”

Zach Braff’s co-star, Donald Faison, also concurred with this opinion earlier in the year when he said in an interview with NBC Insider: “We’re on our way to doing it.

“It’s gonna happen. I don’t know when, but within the next five years.”

Lawrence’s new show Bad Monkey, stars Vince Vaughn, and follows 'a detective turned restaurant inspector in Southern Florida' who is pulled into a 'world of greed and corruption after a tourist finds a severed arm while fishing'.

Bad Monkey releases on Apple TV+ on August 14, 2024.
