If a Jennifer Lawrence film flops, you can probably say that it's likely to be the writer or director’s fault.
Since she burst onto the scene, Lawrence has near exclusively appeared in films that have been massive successes in some way or another.
Whether that be the huge box office success of Hunger Games, the Oscar wins of Silver Linings Playbook and Don’t Look Up, or the fan love for films like No Hard Feelings – she’s rarely the issue.

In the case of one film of hers that flopped, one fan theory completely changes the movie though.
Lawrence has spoken out about how Adele warned her from taking her role in Passengers.
She said: “I was like, ‘Oh no, you guys are here because I’m here, and I’m here because you’re here. Wait, who decided that this was a good movie?'"

“Adele told me not to do it! She was like, ‘I feel like space movies are the new vampire movies’. I should have listened to her."
The film was a flop, with critics panning it and the big budget film making barely a blip at the box office.
According to fans though, a change suggested by Youtuber Nerdwriter1 would’ve made the film Oscar-worthy.

Passengers features Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence on a ship enroute to a distant planet, when Pratt is woken up from hypersleep.
Realising he will die of old age before arriving at their destination, Pratt wakes up Lawrence’s character – consigning her to the same fate as his.
Whilst this is presented as a romance film, the Youtuber points out that with one change, the whole think becomes way more interesting.
Check out a clip from the video below:
The video Passengers, Rearranged suggests that rather than knowing from the start Pratt’s character woke her up – instead we see the film through her point of view, and how they both woke up is a mystery.

If you find yourself immediately nodding your head, you’re not alone.
As well as accumulating almost five million views, the comments on the video raved about the potential change.
In a thread on r/movies where the video was posted, one commenter said: “Haven't seen the movie and didn't expect to care about this but it was really interesting and I gave the video a rare and illusive up thumb”.

One fan commented on YouTube to say: “The creep factor of Pratt’s character once you rearrange it is honestly stunning.
“The look in his eyes makes it obvious he’s done something, and normally we know what and we’re feeling his inner turmoil, but when you theoretically don’t it could be ANYTHING.”
Another said: “Chris Pratt would have got an Oscar for best villain had it been edited this way.”
Whilst Best Villain may not be a category just yet, the change certainly makes the film infinitely better – and would certainly have done better than the 30 percent on Rotten Tomatoes it received.
