It's a really good day for fans of John Wick because it's been confirmed that John Wick 5 is in the early stages of development.
The film series about Keanu Reeves playing the legendary assassin is so much better than it has any right to be and audiences just keep coming back for more.
The reveal that John Wick 5 is being worked on was made during an earnings call for movie studio, Lionsgate, where chairman Joe Drake confirmed it was in the pipeline.

He said there was a 'will and an openness' to make John Wick 5 happen and that they'd look at 'a credible way' to do a fifth movie, though warned there was 'no guarantee' that it would eventually get made.
Adding: "Keanu and Chad, rightly so, are very protective about never screwing with the audience. So we certainly have our work cut out for us. … Keanu is so beloved and that character is so beloved; that’s not lost on him.”
We can't really say any more without diving into the spoilers and details for the fourth John Wick movie and the way it ended, so be warned of heading beyond this point.

Alright everyone, up to date with John Wick? Good.
'But wait, didn't John Wick die at the end of the fourth movie?' I hear you shout, and that's certainly how it looked at the wrap up of the movie.
As John Wick: Chapter 4 wrapped up, he got shot in the gut taking down main meanie The Marquis (Bill Skarsgård) and the movie ended on what appeared to be confirmation of his death.
A slumped over John was left victorious at the end of the film, but at the end we saw Laurence Fishburne's Bowery King visiting John's grave with his dog.

The only real hint that Wick might have lived to fight another day was one last shot of the dog's head perking up at something, so they could pull the 'faked his death' stunt if they really wanted to bring him back.
Keanu Reeves has said he'd come back and do a fifth John Wick movie, but only if director Chad Stahelski was involved.
He said: "I don't know, I guess I'm going to have to lean on never say never. I mean, I wouldn't do a John Wick film without Chad Stahelski. We'd have to see what that looked like.
"For me, it feels really right that John Wick finds peace."

The director has said they could reunite if he had an idea of what to do for John Wick 5, so fans will need to have keep their fingers crossed that Stahelski can come up with something.
Perhaps they could make use of some of the ideas that sadly ended up on the cutting room floor in the fourth movie, as so much was made which ended up getting left out of the final cut.
There was also talk of the spin-off TV series The Continental, revolving around the famous hotel where lots of people with 'good at murdering' on their CV like to hang out.

On top of that, the John Wick franchise is branching out with spin-off movie Ballerina, which will star Ana de Armas and is set to release in cinemas next year.
Keanu Reeves will be coming back for that movie, so it's not the last you've seen of him as John Wick and with the early rumblings of John Wick 5 in place, there's every chance that there'll be more to come.
