Keanu Reeves to make John Wick return in spinoff movie

Everyone's favourite hitman is set to make his return in the upcoming John Wick spin-off.

Keanu Reeves will reprise his role as John Wick in the new Ballerina film, which will follow a young female assassin, Ana De Armas, who seeks revenge on those who killed her family, Collider have reported.

We're not sure if the actor will take on a full role, or just appear as a cameo.

Either way, we're down for it.

Notably, Ian McShane will also return to the franchise as Winston.

Director of the first four John Wick films, Chad Stahelski, revealed that Ballerina sees Len Wiseman direct and will offer a ‘fresh’ perspective on the franchise.

He told the The Hollywood Reporter back in 2020: "Having him [Len Wiseman] on board and approaching some of the action design from a slightly different perspective, meaning the set pieces, the character involvement, how and what he wants to do during the action sequences, makes it kind of fresh."

Speaking about the spin-off, he added: "But as far as the level, the competence or the style of action? Yes. I plan to be there to assist whenever I can.

"And our 87eleven stunt team will be very actively involved in helping Len in all his action needs.

"I already think he's a really good director, and I think he gets the tone.

"I think he understands action, and I think he's got a good visual style. And right off the bat, I was like, 'Oh, we've got to get this guy. He gets it."

We don't have a release date yet - all we know is that the spin-off is currently filming in Prague.

Well, the fourth instalment of the John Wick franchise is on the horizon and is set for a release date next year.

Fans will be delighted to know that John Wick: Chapter 4 will see Reeves reunite with former The Matrix co-star Laurence Fishburne.

The official synopsis reads: "With the price on his head ever increasing, legendary hit man John Wick takes his fight against the High Table global as he seeks out the most powerful players in the underworld, from New York to Paris to Japan to Berlin."

John Wick: Chapter 4 will be released in cinemas on March 24, 2023.
