Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon is currently the talk of the town after receiving a nine-minute standing ovation at Cannes on Saturday (20 May).
Debuting at the iconic festival, the dark crime drama is set in 1920s Oklahoma amid the brutal murders of the oil-rich Osage tribe.
As the investigation gets underway, Ernest Burkhart (Leonardo DiCaprio) finds himself at the centre of the drama as the nephew of power-hungry rancher William Hale (Robert De Niro).

Take a look at the epic trailer below:
Killers of the Flower Moon features an all-star cast including John Lithgow, Brendan Fraser and Jesse Plemons, with an equally epic run time of over three and a half hours.
Scorsese's predictably incredible cast have worked with him on classics such as Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, Gangs of New York, and The Wolf of Wall Street.

This is the 10th time that De Niro has worked with Marty. The actor praised the decision to change the focus during production, switching to telling the story more from the perspective of a suspect, Ernest Burkhart, than the forces of the law.
Bobby said: “I’d read the book a few years earlier and the Tom White character [the aforementioned ex-Ranger] was more prominent.
“That was right for the book, but Marty and Leo’s idea to focus on the relationship between [De Niro's character] Bill and [his nephew] Ernest made sense to me.

“They wanted to focus more on that dynamic instead of Tom White coming in and saving the day.”
Although the film already looks set up to be a monster hit with a 97 percent on Rotten Tomatoes - despite not being released until 20 October - it seems that some viewers can't quite get over DiCaprio's interesting southern accent.
The drawl has divided the internet, with fans debating on Twitter whether the actor achieves the iconic Oklahoma accent.

After watching the trailer, one viewer commented: "This movie will be incredible but DiCaprio’s western accent always makes me chuckle a bit."
"Epic widescreen imagery, the promise of old-west action, a gripping story of cultural wipeout, and a possibly goofy menacing DiCaprio accent," another added.
"I couldn't be happier Apple gave Scorsese blockbuster-level cash to make KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON.
"This thing looks incredible."

A third person said: "Who decided that Leonardo DiCaprio had a good southern accent?
"Because he doesn’t."
"Love him but why does Scorsese feel the need to inflict Leo DiCaprio doing a terrible accent on us every decade or so," someone else said.
UNILAD has contacted DiCaprio's rep for comment.
