All the Easter Eggs in Deadpool & Wolverine

All the Easter Eggs in Deadpool & Wolverine

Here's every Easter Egg in Deadpool & Wolverine - but be warned, spoilers ahead

Spoiler warning: This article is jam packed full of spoilers for Deadpool & Wolverine.

Any given Marvel movie is sure to be jam packed with Easter eggs and references, little moments that you can point to with your superior comics knowledge and go “I know what that is!”

Whatever you normally think of for Marvel films, however, turn that dial up to eleven because Deadpool & Wolverine has non-stop references, call backs, and cool moments with deeper meanings.

So, here is all the easter eggs I - a massive Marvel nerd - spotted in Deadpool & Wolverine.

Wolverine(s)

The most obvious of references come in the form of the mini-montage showing Deadpool running through a variety of Wolverines.

With the exception of one cameo that we’ll be saving for later in the article, it is jam packed with references.

For fear of this entire article being just different versions though, we’re going to do a Wolverine speed round.

There is… a metal as f**k Age of Apocalypse style Wolverine, a tuxedo and eyepatch wearing ‘Patch’ version of the character, a crucified Logan atop a pile of bloody skulls ala Uncanny X-Men #251, a classic version of the character facing off against the Hulk, an Old Man Logan variant which inspired Logan.

Oh, and a ‘comic-accurate short king’ - as Deadpool so aptly puts it.

MCU references

Despite this being Deadpool’s first entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the film is still full of references to the wider MCU.

Beyond the multiple digs at Marvel’s recent poor run of form and dead Ant-Man shown in the trailer, there is also a sling ring, with Cassandra Nova having killed a Doctor Strange variant.

If you look closer though, you’ll see that the ring has a time and reality stone in it.

In addition to this, there is also small detail from one of the opening scenes.

In the scene, Deadpool shares a meeting with Happy Hogan, five years prior to the events of the film – in which Tony Stark is still alive.

Beyond the obvious memorabilia that is panned to, there is a shot of a picture of Tony with half the picture obscured.

And the face in that picture which is obscured is actually Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, with the picture below being the one in question.

His face being obscured is not only a nod to the contractual difficulties of getting Spider-Man in a Marvel film due to the rights belonging to Sony - as well as the fact that in the MCU right now, Spider-Man has been forgotten - so would be hidden from Deadpool’s memory even if he saw it.

Cameos

As you can probably guess, there is an absolute s**t-load of cameos in the film.

But we’re not here to spoil things for you, we’re here to tell you about Easter eggs, so those are the only ones we care about!

Starting with the aforementioned extra Wolverine variant, Henry Cavill popping up is a nod to the non-stop rumours and calls for him to take on the role.

Another in the same vein is Channing Tatum, who appears in the film as Gambit.

Multiple comments from Deadpool also nod to the fact Tatum had a Gambit film in the works for years and years.

The 21 Jump Street star was first cast in 2006 and was attached to various projects as the character up until the film was cancelled in 2019.

The final hidden cameo (though I’m keeping the biggest from you) is Wesley Snipes, who returns as Blade - who he played in the 1998 film of the same name and it's sequels.

There are also multiple nods from Snipes and Reynolds to the feud between the two from their time together on Blade: Trinity.

Deadpool & Wolverine is out in cinemas on July 25/26 in the UK and US.
