Spider-Man 4 has had a huge update and is thought to be (finally) gaining momentum.
Marvel currently has dozens of upcoming projects, many of which were teased at this year's Comic-Con.
One of the biggest announcements was Robert Downey Jr's return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with the Oppenheimer star taking on the role of Dr Doom.

Elsewhere at D23, fans were treated to an unreleased Daredevil trailer, and it's safe to say the series isn't one for the kids to watch.
But seldom has been said about the highly anticipated Spider-Man 4 movie - until now.
According to reports, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton is in early talks to direct the film, taking the reigns from Jon Watts who directed the previous three Tom Holland films.

It remains unclear if formal conversations are underway between Marvel, Sony and Cretton, Deadline reports, but Cretton is seemingly the right choice for the role with him having worked on other Marvel projects in the past.
He had been picked to direct Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, but it was reported last year that Cretton stepped away from the project following the film's change in direction.
The film, now named Avengers: Doomsday, will be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo instead.

As to who will play Spider-Man in the next instalment of the franchise, the Hollywood Reporter states Tom Holland will return.
According to Deadline, Holland and Zendaya 'have been in touch with execs and producers about the development of the film'.
UNILAD has approached Sony and Marvel for comment, as well as reps for Holland.
With the Spider-Man movies propelling Holland into worldwide stardom, the 28-year-old said he 'owes his life and career' to the films.

When asked earlier this year if he'd like to star in Spider-Man 4, Holland told Deadline earlier this year: "The simple answer is that I’ll always want to do Spider-Man films.
"I'll always want to do more."
Meanwhile, Andrew Garfield has addressed the rumors that he'll be back for Spider-Man 4, having reprised his role of Peter Parker in 2021 movie Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Speaking about reports swirling online that he's tied to the new film, Garfield told Indie Wire in recent weeks: "I mean, like the internet is a big place. I think there’s a lot of people who will just say anything to get clicks. So you might have been duped, I’m afraid."
But any Marvel fans will know that Garfield vehemently denied that he was starring in No Way Home when asked in the run-up to its release, so who knows if we can really trust what he says on the matter...
