A script for a Modern Family spin-off has been completed and according to sitcom star Jesse Tyler Ferguson, it's 'very good'.
While no network has picked up the spin-off show as of yet it's entirely possible that one will considering Modern Family ran for 11 seasons and garnered a huge pile of awards.
Running between 2009 and 2020, it was one of the mainstays of ABC's schedule and grew an audience of millions of viewers along with its critical acclaim.

Ferguson himself picked up five Emmy nominations during his time on the show and is very optimistic about the possibilities posed by a spin-off.
Perhaps in the near future a network will want to capitalise on the show's popularity and pick up the script which has been finished and ready to go.
Speaking to ET while attending the Tony Awards over the weekend, the actor discussed the chances of a Modern Family spin-off and spoke very highly of the script quality.

He said: "The script's out there and it's very good.
"So you know, who knows? If someone wants to produce it, maybe."
Other plans for a spin-off were previously discussed by Ferguson after he appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, telling the host the original idea to continue the show in some form didn't get off the ground.
The actor explained 'discussions' had taken place between the Modern Family team and ABC but ultimately 'the network decided against it'.

Plans for that spin-off would have focused on Ferguson's character and his family as they went on a new adventure together.
It would have picked up on the plot thread left dangling after Cameron Tucker, husband of Ferguson's character Mitchell Pritchett, got a job coaching college football in Missouri.
It might have been a new lease of life for a show which began to shed audiences near the end of its run as many who watched Modern Family thought the quality dipped in the final seasons.

A spin-off can be a prime opportunity to take what works from a show and give it a new breath of life in its own vehicle. Then again, the pages of TV history are littered with less successful spin-offs to hugely popular shows that couldn't recreate the old magic and ended up disappointing everyone.
