Cavill confirmed he was leaving the series in an Instagram post back in October 2022.

However, as a solid consolation prize for fans, Cavill will be replaced by the one and only Liam Hemsworth.

But, before Hemsworth takes the sword, Cavill got one last moment as Geralt, which has left fans sobbing.

After Geralt and Yennefer realise they’ve lost Ciri, the two share a moment as they come to terms with what’s just happened.

“I’m so sorry. I don’t have her," says Yennefer.

Geralt replies: “It’s my fault. I couldn’t protect her.”

She asks: “Tell me this isn’t the last time I have to see you. I need you, Geralt.”

“I need you too, Yen," he replied.

The scene hits a bit differently knowing that this will be the last time fans see Cavill as Geralt.

One fan wrote on Twitter: “Their chemistry is incredible. Henry is irreplaceable.”

Another added: "The last episodes of The Witcher with Henry Cavill just dropped. Gonna hole up in my room to watch them and then never stop crying.”

A third said: “But it’s not fair. He IS The Witcher.”

While some fans simply can’t wait for the next season of the show, others are worried it won’t be the same without Cavill.

A fan stated on social media: “I want Henry Cavill as Geralt. No one else.”

Another fan asked: "Are they just going to swap Henry Cavill for Liam Hemsworth. Like are we supposed to not acknowledge the very obvious difference?”

A different viewer said: “The show is done after this last season with Henry. Henry embodied the character to its live-action potential, and it's sad to see he won't be back as Geralt.”

Season four of The Witcher, starring Hemsworth, is expected to come out in 2025.
