Supacell has dropped on Netflix, and the superhero drama is absolutely dominating the platform.
Number two in the US, number one in several countries across the world, and number one globally for the streamer – it is an undeniable smash hit.
For those living under a rock who haven’t heard of it, Supacell deals with the possibility of three down on their luck people from South London who magically get super powers.

The show follows a group who all initially use it for their own gain, ranging from selling drugs to tearing ATMs out of walls, before realising they have to use it to save their loved ones and people they care about instead.
The concept alone had me hooked.
Creator Rapman, who exploded onto the scene with Shiro’s Story and Blue Story, has said in an interview with Variety that he chose to tell this story because, although he’d grown up loving superhero films – he never saw his reality reflected in them.

The show has been a hit with fans and critics so far, with a perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes as well as an 81% audience score.
Leila Latif’s review of the show for The Guardian said: “Rapman’s sprawling sci-fi drama is strikingly performed, bracingly plotted and its characters are up there with prestige TV’s finest. It’s ingenious”

One fan called the show a ‘10/10’, whilst another said: “Definitely need them to drop part 2 asap. if Netflix cancels this I’m deleting the app forever…”
In an exclusive chat with UNILAD, we asked Rapman about exactly this, and we’ve got good news for fans clamouring for more Supacell.
Rapman told us: “I've told Netflix loads of times that I've got plans for multiple seasons. But you know how it goes, they're gonna see how it does, and hopefully we get the next season.

“But I told them, I've got a three-season idea story in my head. So, I got three, not saying it could never go over, but I've got three stories, these three seasons in my head, of where I know where the story goes.
“So, I'm hoping that it comes out, performs really well, and we can go on a second part.”
If Netflix needed the show to perform well to greenlight more seasons – a global number one with unanimous critical acclaim is a good place to start.
From the sounds of that, expect more Supacell.
