Amazon Prime series Stephen King labels ‘impossible not to binge’ has 96% Rotten Tomatoes score

The hit drama is made up of six seasons in total

A British drama hailed as binge-worthy by Stephen King should be added to your watch-list, immediately.

The King of Horror's very own Amazon Prime Video series might have just launched - an adaptation of his 2019 novel, The Institute.

Starring Joe Freeman, it follows a young boy with telekinetic abilities who is kidnapped by the forces that be and held in an ominous testing lab in an attempt to harness his powers.

However, the author has long been a fan of the shows the streaming platform has to offer, including a police TV series he says is 'the best' he's ever seen.

The show is from acclaimed British showrunner Jed Mercurio, who is also behind a 'gripping' mini-series you might've already seen, called The Bodyguard.

The UK-based series follows AC‑12, a specialist anti‑corruption unit within the police, as they investigate internal misconduct, uncovering deep layers of deception and conspiracies.

It centers on DS Steve Arnott (Martin Compston), who is transferred to AC-12 after refusing to participate in a police cover-up.

He is partnered with DC Kate Fleming (Vicky McClure), a highly skilled undercover specialist.

Together, they work under the stern but deeply-principled Superintendent Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar), whose dedication to 'the letter of the law' often throws a spanner in the works.

The show initially premiered on BBC Two in 2012 and, after becoming a major hit, moved to BBC One from series four onward.

The series in question is called Line of Duty, and it's averaged an impressive 96 percent on Rotten Tomatoes across all six seasons.

King took to Twitter to share his thoughts on 'one of the best' police series he's ever seen.

He wrote: "The Guardian, on the superlative LINE OF DUTY: This is less like watching TV, and more like being abducted by it, cuffed, then dragged along.

"It's one of the best police series I've ever seen. Impossible not to binge. Bears comparison to THE WIRE."

Others were in agreement, as one reviewer hailed the show's 'edge of your seat action," adding: "Loved it!"

A second reviewer said: "Binge watched all seasons of this show. It was great. Favorite UK crime series so far."

"Got hooked on this series from the very start," a third social media user weighed in. "Totally binge worthy. Great characters and great writing!"

The first three seasons of Line of Duty are streaming now on Amazon Prime Video in the US. UK fans can catch all six seasons on BBC iPlayer.
