More than two years after the release of season two of Euphoria, it has been claimed that the show could be going in a completely different direction.
Questions have been raised over the HBO show's future after it was announced that filming had been delayed indefinitely, leading to rumors that season three had been cancelled.
The rumors came after the cast, namely the iconic Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, Colman Domingo and Hunter Schafer, had reportedly been given permission to take on other work in the meantime, leading to claims the show had been 'scrapped'.

Fortunately, HBO has since confirmed this is not the case, with a spokesperson telling Variety that it and showrunner Sam Levinson 'remain committed to making an exceptional third season'.
The cast themselves have previously raised their own concerns about the delays, which were originally caused due to the writers' strike.
Elordi told Jimmy Fallon he didn't know when filming would resume, adding: "I hope it’s soon, or they’re going to have to Benjamin Button me or something."

Now, it seems his - and everyone else's - concerns have been addressed as it's been revealed the series could be going in a completely different direction.
According to TheWrap, the 'reason' for further delays is reportedly because Levinson is moving Euphoria's storyline away from high school and into early adulthood, in line with the ages of the cast.
This, of course, means that anything that had previously been penned for the third instalment would need to be re-written.

A source close to Euphoria production told the publication that the network 'wanted to give him [Levinson] more time to break the story, because there’s a lot more back and forth now that the show is changing in this way'.
It comes after Levinson's previous show, The Idol, starring The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp, was cancelled after just one season.
Despite this, all those involved in Euphoria are said to have complete faith in him to deliver an incredible script for the third season when that day comes.

"No one has lost faith in Sam as a creator," the source continued.
"He is the driving force creatively on this show, he is still working with the same creative executives that he always has been, but since the show is changing, that process is taking longer."
Although it's unclear how much longer this change will delay production, the source said season three is still expected to reach audiences in 2025.
A spokesperson for HBO told UNILAD: "HBO and Sam Levinson remain committed to making an exceptional third season. In the interim, we are allowing our in-demand cast to pursue other opportunities."
