Ryan Gosling has hit out at the Oscars after Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig didn't receive nominations for their roles in Barbie.
With Barbie one of 20 titles to ever cross a major milestone at the box office, it's unsurprising the 2023 release has received eight Oscars nominations.
However, fans of the movie were left shocked by titular star Margot Robbie and director Greta Gerwig not making the cut.

Ryan Gosling (Ken) has also since spoken out, acknowledging his own nomination, but also hitting out at the Oscars for snubbing Robbie and Gerwig.
Within it's eight Oscars nominations, Barbie saw America Ferrera nominated for best supporting actress, and nominations for best original songs for 'I'm Just Ken' and 'What Was I Made For?'.
The film also received a nomination for Best Costume Design and Production Design, with Gerwig nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay alongside co-writer and partner Noah Baumbach, and Robbie nominated for Best Picture alongside partner Tom Ackerley, David Heyman and Robbie Brenner.

Gosling has also been nominated for best supporting actor, and while the actor is 'extremely honored to be nominated [...] alongside such remarkable artists in a year of so many great films', he's hit out at the Oscars not recognising Gerwig and Robbie for their roles as the director and main actor in Barbie.
In a statement given to multiple US outlets, Gosling wrote: "I am extremely honored to be nominated by my colleagues alongside such remarkable artists in a year of so many great films. And I never thought I’d being saying this, but I’m also incredibly honored and proud that it’s for portraying a plastic doll named Ken.
"But there is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no Barbie movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this history-making, globally-celebrated film.

"No recognition would be possible for anyone on the film without their talent, grit and genius.
"To say that I’m disappointed that they are not nominated in their respective categories would be an understatement.
"Against all odds with nothing but a couple of soulless, scantily clad, and thankfully crotchless dolls, they made us laugh, they broke our hearts, they pushed the culture and they made history. Their work should be recognized along with the other very deserving nominees.
"Having said that, I am so happy for America Ferrera and the other incredible artists who contributed their talents to making this such a groundbreaking film.
