The Barbie movie mania is reaching fever pitch as it debuts in cinemas around the world today (July 20).
There has been a lot of hype surrounding the film that stars Margot Robbie as the iconic Mattel doll and Ryan Gosling as her sidekick Ken.
Reviews have been coming in thick and fast over the past few weeks after critics were lucky enough to get a sneak peek at Greta Gerwig's flick.

One theme that seems to be popping out is high praise for Gosling's performance.
While Robbie and the rest of the cast are also being celebrated for their acting talents, it seems as though the Canadian star could be in the running for an Oscar nomination.
Well, that's if the people have their way.

Many have taken to Twitter to say Gosling definitely deserves a nod for his incredible portrayal of the male doll.
One critic wrote: "Barbie looks camp right in the eye and turns it into a post-modern meta exploration of existentialism, feminism, the patriarchy and masculinity packaged in a satirical musical comedy homage to the fabric of cinema. It is *the* movie of our time. Ryan Gosling, the Oscar is yours."
Another added: "Ryan Gosling's performance as Ken was oscar worthy. One of my biggest doubt was him but I'm glad he proved me wrong. He stole the show for me! Margot Robbie, ofc, fantastic as always. She looked like an actual Barbie the entire movie. The Kens dancing sequence was just wow!"
A third said: "Barbie is currently my favorite film of the year. Greta Gerwig somehow exceeded my expectations. She tackles the positives and negatives of Barbie so beautifully. Give Ryan Gosling an Oscar nomination, I'm dead serious!"
Gosling has been nominated for an Academy Award twice in his lengthy career.

The first was for the 2007 flick Half Nelson and the second was in 2017 for La La Land, which many thought was going to be the role that would have nabbed him the win.
While some might have their doubts for him taking home Hollywood's most coveted prize for playing a male doll, viewers who have seen Barbie say his performance is incredibly layered.
Some have even been reduced to tears due to some of his scenes.
We'll have to wait and see when the Oscar nomination period comes up to determine whether the Academy believes Gosling is worthy of a third chance at glory.
