One of the more popular festive delights is The Grinch - or How the Grinch Stole Christmas as it's officially known.
The Ron Howard directed film somehow turned 23 this year after being releasing back in 2000.
Starring Jim Carrey as the green creature himself, The Grinch was initially met with mixed reviews when it was released at the turn of the century.
However, it became a real Christmas favorite over time.

There has been a lot of excitement recently after reports suggested that a sequel to The Grinch was on the way and Carrey was said to be returning to the role.
A report from Giant Freakin Robot stated: "Jim Carrey is returning to Universal Pictures for The Grinch 2, once again playing Dr. Seuss’s most famous and ill-tempered creation."
The February 2023 report didn't detail any information about how the story in the alleged sequel could pan out or if other actors involved in the 2000 film would be making a return.

It even got to the point where it was said Carrey may have to contact the CIA if he reprised his role for The Grinch 2.
Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Carrey will be returning after all, as per a statement provided to People.
Following the recent media speculation, Carrey's rep told the outlet: "There is no truth to Jim reprising his role as the Grinch in a sequel to The Grinch."
Universal is yet to comment as to whether a sequel to The Grinch could go ahead without Carrey being involved or if it is even going ahead at all.

UNILAD has previously reached out to Carrey's reps and Universal for comment.
Carrey not making a return shouldn't really come as a surprise as he has typically not been a fan of sequels.
Speaking to CinemaBlend in 2017, the actor said: "I find sequels are a function of commerce for the most part. At least the two I've done, they were characters I enjoyed doing, but I did find myself almost parroting myself at that point.

"When you put 10 years between you and the last time you did it, suddenly you're going, 'How did I do that again?'... So, you're imitating your original inspiration. It was super fun with Jeff, but I'm not a crazy sequel guy."
In 2022, Carrey announced he was retiring from acting telling Access Hollywood: "Yeah, I’m retiring. I really like my quiet life, and I really love putting paint on canvas, and I really love my spiritual life, and I feel like - and this is something you might never hear another celebrity say as long as time exists - I have enough."
