There are often times that some films can seem similar or touch on the same topic, yet Zac Efron's new movie is thought to have 'copied' another new film that's been recently released.

Zac's new movie stars him alongside Nicole Kidman, as she makes her Netflix debut. The film, titled 'A Family Affair' sees Zac, Nicole and also Joey King as they navigate an awkward love situation.

In the movie, Zac plays Chris Cole, a self-absorbed Hollywood star who starts dating Brooke Harwood, played by Nicole. However Brooke is the mother of his assistant Zara (played by Joey), who isn't best pleased that her mother and boss are getting steamy.

The trailer shows some intense love scenes, and for anyone looking for an excuse to see a shirtless Zac, this could be it. Plus, it looks like it could have a very cute romantic line, as Nicole's character says in the trailer: "I am starting to feel things that I never thought I would feel again, not since your father died."

A Family Affair comes to Netflix on 28 June, but film fans have already spotted some similarities to another film that also focuses on family and love.

Anne Hathaway's recent Amazon rom com 'The Idea Of You' sees her star, alongside Purple Hearts actor Nicholas Galitzine, as the pair fall in love but are ultimately forced to pause their relationship for the sake of Hathaway's teenage daughter.

Spotting the similarities between the two films, one person wrote on Twitter/X: "Netflix’s answer to The Idea of You."

Another added: "Wasn’t Anne hathaway just in this movie."

A third pointed out: "The Idea of You and A Family Affair both coming out this year………… I just find myself. suspicious. of Hollywood giving us two older woman/younger man romcoms at the same time. I’m ALWAYS suspicious when it looks like they’re suddenly subverting old and baked-in formulas."

Another savvy film fan highlighted other times there have been similar films as they wrote on social media: "Every year there are two almost exactly the same movies. Antz & Bugs Life. Olympus has Fallen & White House Down. Friends with Benefits & No Strings Attached and now The Idea Of You & A Family Affair."

I’m sure there is many many more."

Some film fans have pointed out that A Family Affair was originally due to come out before The Idea Of You. (Netflix)

Some fans also pointed out that A Family Affair was filmed in 2022 and was due to be released in November 2023, meaning it would have come out before Hathaway's film The Idea Of You. They explained: "people thinking a family affair is netflix’ answer to the idea of you when it was supposed to be released in november (so wayy before the latter)…"

Yet some film fans were just excited for the film to land, as one person shared: "This looks corny but entertaining."

Another person added: "I'm gonna love this!!!!!"

A Family Affair is available on Netflix from 28 June.
