More than 20 years after fans were first introduced to The Lord of the Rings trilogy on the big screen, a new trailer confirms the prequel series is closer than ever.
Set to be released on Amazon Prime Video, actors including Nazanin Boniadi, Benjamin Walker, Morfydd Clark and Robert Aramayo are tasked with taking viewers on a whole new adventure in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.
The series takes place thousands of years before the The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogy series was set,

but the visuals are anything from old fashioned in the new trailer for the upcoming show.

With expansive landscapes, beautiful scenery and detailed costumes it's clear the series had an impressive budget, speculated to be more than $400 million.

Wayne Che Yip, who has directed four episodes of the series, made clear creators had gone above and beyond for the show as he told Entertainment Weekly being on set was 'breathtaking'.
"We were there for weeks, but every day I'd notice a new detail I'd never seen before, like graffiti etched into weathered stone, or a small shrine," he said. "There was a whole wall made out of oyster shells. Every corner you'd turn, there was just so much storytelling."
The release of the trailer is the second insight fans have been given this month after a Twitter post last week teased a first look at the trailer, showing characters from all over Middle-earth watching as a star fell to Earth.

That alone was enough to get fans excited for the series, with one person responding: "I can't believe the Lord of The Rings is finally here once again! I can't wait..."
The story looks sure to be just as captivating as the scenes themselves as viewers will be able to watch the creation of the 19 rings of power by Sauron take place during the series.
A synopsis explains: "Beginning in a time of relative peace, we follow an ensemble cast of characters as they confront the re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone."

Rather than being inspired directly from an existing J. R. R Tolkien novel, The Rings of Power stems from extensive notes made by author.
