Top Gun: Maverick has absolutely smashed it at this year's box office and has even overtaken Oscar winning Titanic.
In what's become Tom Cruise's highest grossing film of all time, the action flick has soared past its competition at Paramount Pictures, which is made up of a a 110-year history.
Despite actor Mickey Rourke's recent comments that Tom Cruise is 'irrelevant', the audience clearly disagrees, as the sequel to 1986's Top Gun looks to have definitely surpassed expectations.
Although, during an interview with Piers Morgan, Rourke said ticket sales do not mean you're good at your craft.

The British TV host asked Rourke about how he feels about Maverick doing so well at the box office.
"That doesn’t mean s**t to me,” he told Morgan. “The guy’s been doing the same effing part for 35 years. I got no respect for that."
“I think he’s irrelevant, in my world,” he added.

I mean, whatever way you look at it, the 'numbers don't lie' argument is definitely one to consider as Maverick racked up a mega $601.9 million at the domestic box office, and if you compare that with Titanic, which got a $600m domestic total, the action film narrowly came out on top.
Maverick also came out on top when it comes to the 'coveted' Rotten Tomatoes reviews.
Critics gave it a whopping 97 percent while the audience scored a cool 99 percent.
Compared with Titanic, the critics gave it a harsh 87 percent, while the audience gave it an even harsher 69 per cent.

I mean, come on, just because there was room for two doesn't warrant such a low rating.
Anyway, Brian Robbins, President and CEO of Paramount Pictures, said: "For 110 years, Paramount Pictures has produced and distributed some of the most iconic films in Hollywood history, including the all-time classic Titanic, which marks its 25th anniversary this year.
"Top Gun: Maverick is a phenomenal motion picture, and we take deep pride in celebrating this tremendous achievement alongside Tom Cruise, our filmmakers and cast, our marketing and distribution teams, and, of course, all the new and original Top Gun fans, without whom this wouldn’t have been possible.”
