Zoey 101 star Alexa Nikolas slams Paramount after ordering reboot despite misconduct claims against creator

Zoey 101 star Alexa Nikolas slams Paramount after ordering reboot despite misconduct claims against creator

Not everyone is so thrilled about the Zoey 101 reboot.

Zoey 101 is risen and a reboot in of the hit Nickelodeon show is officially in the works.

Fans of the Jamie Lynn Spears series are over the moon after learning that the former students of PCA would be returning for a movie Zoey 102, 15 years after it went off air.

But not everyone is so thrilled about the news - particularly Alexa Nikolas, who played Zoey's roommate Nicole Bristow on the show.

Last year, Alexa opened up about her 'traumatic' experience on set, allegedly at the hands of series creator Dan Schneider.

Alexa, now 30, claimed that Schneider would sit in on her costume fittings for the series, when she was as young as 12 years old.

"Thank God there was a curtain, but he was literally [sitting] on [a] chair right outside of the curtain," she said in an interview last year.

"I had to wear very short skirts. He would sit in a chair and I would come out and do a spin. He would look at the wardrobe artist and say, 'Can I have the polaroids?'"

Alexa had also suggested that Dan would photograph child actors' feet with a digital camera.

She also said that although she found it ‘weird and silly’ at the time, her mum would say to her: “Don’t go over there,” and allegedly refused to allow Nikolas to have photos of her feet taken.

In 2021, Schneider denied the foot fetish rumours that have followed him for years, calling them 'ridiculous'.

Earlier this week, former Zoey 101 stars including Jamie Lynn Spears, Matthew Underwood, Sean Flynn, Erin Sanders, Abby Wilde and Christopher Massey broke the news that a reboot was officially in the works, with a photo of directors chairs with their characters' names on them, alongside the all-important script.

It's fair to assume that Alexa will not be joining the cast, judging by her response to the news.

Taking to Twitter, she wrote: "Take note of people in this industry that do not advocate publicly nor privately to create safer environments by even simply supporting individuals close to them that have bravely come forward.

"Birds of a feather. Flock together."

In a follow-up tweet, she added: "Do NOT support a network that can't even take accountability especially when it comes to CHILDREN. That is beyond low..."

Alexa then hinted that she might plan on staging a protest outside of the Paramount+ studios.

There are a few other former stars who it looks like won't be returning for the reboot, including Paul Butcher, who played Zoey's little brother Dustin, and Victoria Justice, who played Zoey's roommate Lola.

Dan Schneider left Nickelodeon in 2018 after an investigation into the show runner.

Although the series creator has since hinted at a comeback pilot, it hasn't been made clear yet whether Dan will be attached to Zoey 102.

The new project is expected to premiere on Paramount+ later this year.

UNILAD has contacted Paramount for a comment.
