If Donald Trump's tariffs weren't enough of a blow to consumer's across the globe, now Nintendo has revealed its hefty price for the new Switch console and games.
The first Switch was released in 2017 and the Japanese-based company has gone one to sell over 150 million units, breaking a 13-year record for Nintendo and making it the third-best selling video game system of all time, GameSpot reported.
Following the success of the Switch, it was only a matter of time before Nintendo released a new and updated version of the console.

In recent days, Nintendo hosted its famous Treehouse Live Stream, which sees company's employees demo games online and discuss what's good about them.
And on April 3, more details about the Switch 2 were revealed and that it will hit shelves on June 5.
However, when the price was revealed, it didn't take long for the livestream to be inundated with comments from disgruntled gamers who aren't happy about how much it'll set them back.

How much will it set you back, I hear you ask? $449.99, which is about a $200 increase in comparison to the first edition of the console.
Ouch.
In regards to the games, Mario Kart World will cost you $80 for the digital edition or $90 for the physical game.
It's believed many of the Switch 2's games will be in the same price bracket, reports The Gamer.

As you can imagine, these price hikes have gone down like a lead balloon with Nintendo fans.
Taking to Twitter, one person raged of the news: "I'm gonna be serious here, people always praised Nintendo for having smaller games with moderate budgets, and yet they're the first to increase game prices to $80/$90?! This is ridiculous."

"This is honestly saddening as I was really looking forward to buying a Nintendo Switch 2," said someone else.
They continued: "But due to how it and its games are priced, I'm not really in a financial position to buy one. I truly hope it can go down in price like the 3DS did, but I fear that won't be the case..."
Urging the Japanese game-maker to 'drop the price', a different person penned: "We will not be paying $80 and $90 for games. We are voting with our wallets, Nintendo. Drop the price or see the Switch 2 flop."
Another person dubbed the price tag as 'outrageous'.

It's unclear why the Switch 2 is so much more expensive than the first console of its type.
Some people have suggested it's a result of Donald Trump bringing in hiked tariffs, with Japan now facing a 24 percent levy on its exported items into the US.
Others said Nintendo had the scope to make the Switch 2 pricier following the first Switch's success.
Will you be buying the new console for $449.99?
