Kanye West has teased the date for the sequel to his tenth album via his Instagram.
West, now formally known as Ye, took to Instagram earlier today, January 27, to reveal the upcoming release date for Donda 2.
Donda marked the rapper's tenth album, and was only released onto streaming platforms after a series of cryptic clues and delays, so it's not surprising that Ye's latest social media post follows in the same fashion.
The instagram post shows an image of a burning house, with the digits '2 22 22' printed on its side, alongside the caption, 'DONDA 2 COMING 2 22 22 EXECUTIVE PRODUCED BY FUTURE.'
There's no doubt that the cryptic post will fuel speculation as to whether or not Ye will host a similar series of listening events like the ones he held in his hometown for Donda.
The sequel also appears to continue the tenth album's tribute to his mother, who was called Donda.
The post has since amassed more than 700,000 likes and 21,000 comments, with users having flooded to the image in excitement over the upcoming release. One said, 'DONDA 2 FINNA HIT NUMBER 1 ON THE CHARTS.'
Another wrote, 'I know people are about to lose their sh*t. They don’t even know what’s coming. Maaaaaan it’s about to a movie. LETS GOOO.'
A third commented, 'Just know this album is legendary.'
However, some fans are sceptical as to whether the next release will really drop as soon as February 22 after the delays Donda faced, alongside claims that the album had been released without Ye's permission.
The rapper has recently made headlines for his apparent blossoming relationship with actress Julia Fox. Fox blogged about her second date with Ye as being a 'Cinderella moment', despite Ye having previously called upon estranged wife Kim Kardashian to come back to him during a performance, and openly reflecting on his marital mistakes.
The Kardashian is rumoured to be enamoured with comedian Pete Davidson, and herself and Ye are reported as trying to keep their distance from one another as tensions have been brewing.
On top of his recent instagram post teasing an upcoming music release, Ye is also set to drop his long-awaited documentary, titled Jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Triology. The three-parter is set to air on Netflix from February 16.
