Fans of Machine Gun Kelly are flooding to social media to weigh in on why he's changed his Spotify name.
Machine Gun Kelly is hardly the most friendly and inviting name to go by. Although, as a name for an alternative rock hip-hop artist who sings songs such as 'bloody valentine' and is 'best friends' with leeches, it definitely channels the same energy.
However, the musician - real name Colson Baker - has come under fire in the past for the name. And while not saying why, it would seem he's since decided to make a change, updating it on Spotify.
Baker first started getting calls to change his stage name in 2022, some fans taking an issue with the 'machine gun' part of his name given the devastating level of gun crime which takes place in the US.

A pair of fans called Chad and JT even made a sign which they took along to one of the rapper's concerts which read: "Change your name!!!"
During the gig, they claimed Baker asked the duo the reason behind the sign and they explained: "We want you to change your name. We want to take out the 'Machine Gun' so we don't glorify machine guns. Just take out the 'Machine Gun'."
Later that year, Baker posted on Instagram, his post featuring the caption, 'Machine'.
Chad and JT took to X to question: "Machine Gun Kelly has officially changed his name to Machine. Do you guys think our sign worked? #machinegunkelly."

And two years on, it would appear Baker has since altered his name on his profiles yet again.
Eagle-eyed fans have realised Baker's Spotify and X names have recently been updated.
Instead of reading 'Machine' or 'Machine Gun Kelly', Baker's name now reads 'mgk'.

One X user wrote: "Machine gun kelly is now 'mgk' on every platform from spotify to apple music."
"We love a MGK," an Instagram user added.
The musician has also changed his name on his X profile too, although his handle still reads @machinegunkelly.

On Instagram his handle similarly reads @machinegunkelly, but his profile states: "Colson xx blonde don."
Baker hasn't officially stated his name has changed nor publicly given any reason.
UNILAD has contacted Baker's representatives for comment.
